Figure a way to clamp the strip to the form with force instead of steam. 1) To twist a strip put a c-clamp on it where you need more twist and eccentrically pull down on the t-handle of the clamp with a cinch cord. 2) Take a short lengh of scrap strip and put it perpendicular on top of the strip to be clamped running off the free edge of the strip on to the station form and then screw it in to the from adjacent to the strip. 3) Use a cinch strap (like the ones for your car roof rack) to pull the strips together also include the far bottom corner of the station form to increase the normal force on the top strip. 4) Use wood clamping C's and wedges at the station forms. See: http://www.greenval.com/FAQnostaples.html 5) Use bungee cords for clamping pressure 6) make a negative station form that fits outside the strips and camp it tight to the station and use wedges. 7) Use pressure boards i.e. clamp three 1x2's together to a station form to form a frame around the outside of your kayak. Then use another board to press on the offending strip and camp the pressing board to the frame. Put a second press board on the other side of the kayak to balance the force on the clamped frame.
Look at eveyone's personal web sites you'll see all of these methods.
