George Putz's 18.5 foot skin on frame "Walrus" has a cockpit that is sized for a standard sliding-seat rowing apparatus. In his book on canvas covered boats, he lists the source for this seat, and has a picture of someone rowing one.

It seems to me that you could put a sliding seat in almost any canoe or kayak if the cockpit opening were large enough. So, almost any hull pattern would be acceptable, as long as it was stable with the higher center of gravity you would get with having a rower up higher than the usual kayaker's seat.

After the hull was built the seat would be added, and a deck simply built to cover the rest of the boat.
