There is an interesting note in this month's Woodenboat, in the "on the waterfront" column.

" I recently built a Bolger-designed boat...using MDO...Often referred to as sign painters plywood because the paper covering is made for painting. It takes paint so well that everyone thinks my boat is fiberglass... I've seen manu outdoor realtor signs so old the paint had all but faded away abd the MDO had no signs of delamination".

I dont know if this stuff is available in 1/4" thickness, but it might be worth a shot. I left out quite a bit of the little column, check it out!
