Liz, Once many years ago I made a living out of spray painting boats and other odd jobs. A neat solution to non skid panels was to mask off the sections or panels with masking tape, then spray or brush the varnish or paint onto the area. Whilst the paint is still wet, shake epsom salts over the area so that it is covered. Remove the masking tape and allow the paint to dry. Then wash the epsom salts off with water. The result will be a non skid pattern left behind that will not hold dirt. The crystals leave an attractive pattern behing and the patch is the same color as the surrounds. You can get as artistic as you like with what ever shape the non skid pannel needs to be. Hope this is of assistance. Regards Don
