I could not bear to put holes in the ends of my Ches 17, so instead, I made carry handles using a loop of 1" webbing threaded through a slightly shorter loop of hollow webbing. These are screwed to the deck into the shear clamps. For security, I put a stainless steel U-Bolt through the bulkhead behind the seat, and epoxied the nuts on. I use a heavy duty Kryptonite bike cable to lock the boat to the car. At home, I build a 20'x2' post and beam barn to store the boats securely.
