Hi John, I've used a one piece enclosed pump called an Attwood Water Buster. It's not as permanent or high capacity as the Rule pump and seperate battery but suits my desire for something that is removable. Also having all that wiring opens up numerous opportunities for corrosion at the contacts. The Water Buster costs about $32 and is not strong enough to be dropped to the ground but if you become familiar with its weaknesses you may find it suits the purpose. I replaced the 3D cells with 3D gel cells giving about the same pumping rate as a hand pump. The 3ft exit hose can fit right under the skirt pumping out on the deck. It has a rubber covered push on/off switch. A creative person could make an automatic shut off. If you get one make sure to seal the rubber switch, don't let it sit in standing water for too long after pumping for a while as it seems to draw a vacuum when cooling off.
