Hi Mick, I like that idea..I can always do that if I decide I don't like the gloss anymore.
I wonder if cutting the glare would cut the apparent shine of the pine.
(to respond to your first post, I think the slant of the wood grain has something to do with it.)

: character becomes plasticised and cheap. So if you went w/ a steel wool
: brushed finish (someone here said that satin varnish was softer so maybe
