I want to turn one of my greenland style paddles into a spare that can be stored on deck. But, it is too long - 90". Any thoughts on how to make it collapsable? Any resources for buying the connector for the two halves (a "ferrel" I think?) that would fit the rather square shape of the shaft?

I have also given thought to building a shorter storm paddle.
