Rehd was just joking when he asked if that was a fancy hatch - It's really part of the design I'm building on the deck. The hatch (probably rather conventional)at that end will be a bit further forward.

The forms come out when you have glassed both the deck and the hull on the outside. You then separate the two, remove the forms, and clean out the insides to prepare them for glassing. If you order any of the books, such as Nick's, it will explain the sequence plenty thoroughly. You can check out my website link below, I take an awful lot of pictures when I'm building and you might find a few helpful - I'm a novice as well, so you can learn from my mistakes . . .
