If you do these steps yourself, you can save a lot of money. (Not time! Just money), but you will be making the project bigger and more involved. It will take more time and require more tools. _If_you_already_have_the_tools, you can save a bundle--building a stripper from plans can be the cheapest way to build a boat, but it's not 100% foolproof either! If you don't have the tools, remember that table saws and routers are not cheap! (Certainly a lot of fun, though!)

If I hadn't bought a bunch of ash and specialty veneers, I could have built my Guillemot 18 for around $200. I'll probably be closer to $300-350, which is still pretty resonable.
