In Response To: magic marker (Doug)
To cover some poor fitting deck seams near the coaming, and to cover a small magic marker mark nearby, I used some of the 3/4" birch "iron-on" veneer to make some accent stripes on the deck. Home Depot has the stuff for about $4 for a 25 ft roll (I think it was PGJ that mentioned this earlier). To cover a 4" seam near the bow, I did the same, making a "compass rose" from two different colors of veneer (Thanks Greg Hicks). Add the veneer before fiberglassing, and be careful sanding, as the veneer adds a little thickness.
In another spot, I just sanded off the mark ... my 1st boat, and I'll never use a ballpoint pen or a marker again!
