Like you say, a custom fiberglass seat or minicell seat would be better. I won't argue that. But I can make a bean bag in under an hour, and it'll work equally well for my wife or me. Would a nylon bag (say 10"x18"x1.5") filled with beaded foam be any less rigid than Pygmy's thermarest seats? I don't think it would be, if made well, but I do think it might provide better support. I'll likely go with either a minicell or moulded fiberglass seat when the time comes (and no, I'm not intimidated by the mess. That was just a quip), but I thought the bean bag idea was worth asking about -- I was asking purely out of curiousity.
