I didn't sand much into the overlap when feathering the joint so that I didn't weaken the cloth. I talked to the people at Pygmy and they said this darkening at the cloth overlap was common, and that they recommend sanding down the overlap altogether. I don't like that solution because you basically end up with a butt-joint in the fabric -- no strength at all in that transition area. If I had it to do again, I'd go with a single full layer with no overlap.
Funny that you said you got some dark bands where the butt joints are -- so did I. I told this to Pygmy as well, and they had never heard of such a thing.
