I don't really think that there are any benefits besides the aesthetics. You can argue all the other points,ie. they are lighter, stronger,etc. but this is not really true as these are properties of design and construction that can be achieved in either medium.

The big benefit to a wooden kayak is that they look so much nicer and they are just as strong and functional as their fiberglass counterparts. So it doesn't matter how good a fiberglass boat is, you can build a wooden one just as well and it will ALWAYS look better.
