I agree with you about the price. That and I can actually make a kayak like I want to. If I want more space behind the backrest, I can make a boat with just that. If I want flush hatches, easy enough to do (maybe attempt?). The money was a large factor because I can build a stripper for $450 or pay $1200 for a fiberglass (heavy). As a woodworker I really enjoy the building process too.
