Hi, I just put one on my Tred Avon double, here is what the instructions from CLC said: Keep the cables in as straight of line as possible. They should enter the deck about 16" to 24" in front of the rudder (I'm guessing here but it should be close). Fasten the tubing that the cable goes through with cable clamps and screws. Put a clamp often enough to keep the tubing fairly straight (ie. one on top the deck where the tubing goes through, two or three on the shear clamp inside the hull. These little cable clamps and scres are also what to use to hold the rope for raising and lowering the rudder. Hope this helps. You could also see if CLC would send you the instructions they have. If you want more help from me, e-mail me.

: I built a Chesapeake 17' last spring and used it all last summer. I really
: enjoy my boat except that it has a tendencey to turn 90 degrees to the
: wind (high wind). I'm sure that this is due to my having built my deck 1.5
: inches higher than spec. I bought a rudder kit yesterday, but there were
: no directions. Nor can I find my CLC manuals. (I moved once since then,
: you know how that goes)

: Anyway, my question has to do with the cables. Do they run along the outside
: of the deck until the cockpit and then enter the cockpit through the deck?
: How are the cables afixed to the boat? Same as bungies are? How is the
: rope for raising and lowering the rudder afixed to the boat?
