: Am getting closer to finishing my Arctic Tern, and haven’t applied the cloth
: to the deck yet, but after my experience glassing the inside of the hull,
: I am a little worried about fraying of the cloth ends. When I did the
: inside of the hull, the cloth ends at the overlap tended to fray and leave
: messy filaments of wetted fiberglass thread. That may be acceptable for
: the inside of the hull, where it will be covered by the Thermo-rest
: cushion, but not on the deck. I’m thinking that the problem comes from the
: sticky nylon roller picking up loose ends. Perhaps if I wet the deck in
: those areas first and then lay the cloth on, so that it wicks up epoxy and
: I don’t have to disturb it much, I could minimize this problem. Any
: thoughts or suggestions?

Ever try a pinking shears? Scrap in the direction away from the middle of the cloth with scraper at an angle while the epoxy is still soft enough to indent with a finger nail. Cutting bias strips help too.
