: I just finished putting the fiberglass on the hull of my Coho, and noticed
: there's a few light spots in the fiberglass. From reading some of the
: other postings, I'm hoping that this is just due to some air bubbles that
: weren't fully drawn out of the fiberglass when I squeegee'd the hull. I
: don't think that fiberglass is raised off the wood - the areas aren't
: "bubbled up at all".
Well, I trimmed off the fiberglass cloth fringe at the sheer, and found out that there are some bubbles and wrinkles in the fiberglass. No too bad - some bubbles maybe a 1/4 in diameter or so, the odd bug "tenting up" the cloth, and one or two wrinkles, maybe 1/2 inch or so. And the cloth around the bow tip is raised off the keel seam.
What's the recommended procedure here - slice open the bubbled areas and try to get them to lay flat in the next fill coat? Sand off the raised areas of cloth and patch? Sand off and simply let the epoxy cover the gap?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
BTW, I'll definitely have to do some sanding at the stern seam - I assume after any sanding/handling of the hull, I'll need to wash the fiberglass down before applying the next filler coat? What's the best option here - simple hand soap and water?
TIA Ed
