I don't mean to start the war again 8-) , but I got some real questions:

how deep does the epoxy being absorbed into the wood ? I'm talking about the 4mm marine plywood that pygmy sells with it's kits.

my thought was that the epoxy is NOT being absorbed very deep into the wood, thus creating a structural strength: epoxy on the outside & wood on the inside. so when I built my coho I let the wood absorb & absorb. what I got is a tank ! It's strong & heavy like hell. I tend to preffer strength over light weight because I know I'll need the strength sooner or sooner.

after a while I started to suspect that the epoxy is being absorbed well into the middle layer, & therefore is completely "filled" with epoxy when wetted on both sides. I'm sure that a fully epoxy wetted wood is stronger than the structural theory I just mentioned, but I'm not sure which of these 2 options are better for me. again, this is just MY preference & I don't want to start a war here.

an advantage of the heavy version is less rot. well, I think that epoxied wood doesn't rot, & sealed wood might or might not rot.

so.... does anybody really knows how deep into the wood the epoxy is absorbed ?

I was thinking, as an improvement for my next boat, not to wet the wood before glassing it, but I realise it's not smart since the wood will take the epoxy from the glass. It's better to just squeegee the epoxy over the wood before it's absorbed.

am I correct about it ?

I just used what I got from pygmy, but it's time to see what else is available. any info appreciated.
