If you are using oderless mineral spirits it could cause some problems. I thin Flagship with Varsol to 10-15% for first coats. For the final coat thin using turpentine and you should get good results. This tip came from a boat builder I know that refinishes a lot of classic mahogany runabouts and his results are unbelievable.
