Kevlar strip on S&G

I am building two S&G Roy Folland Sea Wolf kayaks and am considering putting a strip of kevlar along the keel for abrasion resistance. I would lay it on once the glass layer is filled but before the last coat. Can anyone give me some advice as to whether this is a good idea or not?
