I am ready to install the first strips on my Great Auk. Nick's book says to cut off the bead and bevel the edge where it will meet the deck half. With the bottom facing up I will have to flip the strip and visualize it upside down and then estimate a rolling bevel - all while holding the 18' strip in some yet-to-be-devised clamp. Can I just leave it the edge square until I finish the hull and flip the boat? Although the strip will be attached to frames, I can then use a rabbbet plane which cuts right to the edge.
