Tape, blocks, levers, exterior forms, they all help. Don't try to use a lot of staples trying to get the strips to conform, they stand out bad in the end. I used all those method on my last boat(minus the staples). Felt I had to use drywall screws occasionally, they show up the worst of any method once you add the epoxy. Steam, hot iron, or a hot air gun can help to get the twist right, dry clamp it and leave it overnight. then it's easier to glue. I didn't get the strips to conform to the bevel at the bow on either of my two guillemots. I made sure that the straps were well glued in that area and when I glassed the inside, I filled the gap with cookie dough. Building without staples is actually quite easy on the guillemot. I went to 3/8" strips going over the chine and left the cheaters out until I was up on the flat of the hull.

: I'm currently building a Guillemot. I've got about 5 strips including the
: shear on the hull (both sides). The strips are fair and flow relatively
: well along the forms until they reach the end forms. I'm having to torque
: the strips before the end forms to get them to attach to the bevel
: correctly. Basically I put a staple in the last form on the strongback
: before the end forms then I have to torque the strip to hit the bevel
: correctly which in turn pulls out the staple I put in. I was very
: meticulous drawing up the forms, but it seems like the strips are getting
: more and more difficult to attach to the end forms. Any suggestions would
: be helpful.
