Way to go, John!! My guess is you found the cedar at Northwest Lumber. Might also try some of the construction lumber yards, and try Menards (I purchased lauan for my Merganser there, and they had some nice looking cedar, but in shorter lengths, 8'). For trim and cockpit coaming, I purchased ash and some veneer at NW, but most of the mahogany at Menards. Good luck and keep us posted. -- Greg
: I ordered the plans for the Guillemot "L" and the kayak making
: book. Anyone make this boat yet? Also, I called around and found a source
: for clear cedar. I found a source in Indianapolis selling 1" x
: 4" for $1.55 per linear foot (probably the actual size is 3/4" x
: 3 1/2"). Is that a reasonable price? They said they had lengths up to
: 16 foot long. Anyone have an estimate on how many pieces of those strips I
: should purchase to start with?
: Now I have to wait for my plans and book to come. Guess I'll go out and
: paddle my Pungo. The creeks are up and lots of good places to go now.
