I'll provide my 2 cents:
A variance of 1/100 is irrelevant - you'll be sanding off that much and more to smooth the surface when the strips are assembled. This from someone who is decidedly NOT a perfectionist. Of greater concern might be the burn marks - I had some and they were always harder to sand out than the various nicks and scratches.
I did cove and bead strips on my hull and was dissatisfied. I did the deck with just beveled strips and it came out much better - a lot easier with straighter and more even joints between the strips. The stips can take more abuse while installing, too.
