: failure mode - what happens if you are getting back in the boat in rough
: seas and the hatch is pulled sideways, then wont close because the hinge
: is bent? Or, the hinge breaks and forget about closing?
: I envision losing seaworthiness.
I guess if you can destroy your boat by stepping on it ,too. I don't enticipate to use mine in rough water, it will be allright. If the hatch breaks, I always pack with plenty of duct tape.
