hey Mick , it's thursday night and all is well for pondering. I'm about to whip up a CHes14 so the idea of a little retractable rudder keeps popping up in my mind. The small rudder idea comes from having made a little rudder out of a Necky Gannet skeg and using it on the back of a Patuxent 17 4yrs ago. It gave me all the tracking I wanted without that locked in feeling that a big feathercraft rudder has. So I'm figuring a retractable flip up rudder that doesn't have through hull fittings but can flip INTO the back deck so as not to interfere with climbing on cowboy style yet still provide solid tracking when conditions require it. -cheers
