The one problem with the wax crayons for putty is that the was will inhibit the coloring of the wood it has been on. If you rub it in and get any on the surrounding area, it will prevent the epoxy from coloring the wood as the rest of the yak. Mostly, those sticks were made for use after the stain and finish were applied. Then, there is no problem with discoloring. Anywhere you use it, be sure to sand real good before any finish is applied.
