Laughing Loon, Guillemot, Redfish, Shearwater, Newfound Woodworks, Woodenboat... There are lots of good plans out there, from free on up. In the end, you will be much happier if you know what your boat will be used for, and what characteristics you want in the boat. Given that, the price difference in plans will be negligible compared to the cost of the finished boat and your satisfaction with it. In other words, you will be a lot happier with the boat you want, regardless of the plans cost. Dont compromise your goals over a nominal percentage in finished boat cost.
Of course, you can always build more boats....
: To shawn or any other helpful person: In my computer challenged bumbling, I
: found Laughing Loon, a producer of kayaks and strip built kayak plans. The
: price does not seem competitive, is there anyone who could inform me in a
: comparison between boat plans. Guillemot, for instance, seems quite
: reasonable in comparison. Is there more to it?
: Also, how many other strip built kayak plans are there out there to further
: complicate choices?
