Thanks for the reply guys. I'm just back from my shop. I ripped about 30 strips on my bands saw slightly over 5/16" thick. I then ran them through the surface planer on both sides until they were exactly 1/4" thick. I might have wasted a small amount of lumber, but I think this will make it easy for me to now shape the cove and bead.

I'm drinking a nice cold Pepsi right now, and getting ready to go back out and shape the edges.
