John, Your questions have been been asked and anwered before, and will be asked many times to come. You have already provided a new idea that hasn't been tried up to now, or at least has not been posted to my knowledge. Just keep asking and when something occures to you, bring it up and everyone benefits. I realize you are experimenting and trying other avenues, but, I think the finger-joint is going to be a nice change of pace from the blunt edges achieved with the scarf or butt joints. Whatever you choose, it's fun playing around.
