: Hey there John. What we did was find the odd length of 1 X 4 pine, cut two
: 12-inch lengths, then put 2 1/4-inch thick X 1 inch high X 12-inch long
: pieces in the bottom part (you know, some scrap pieces of your cove and
: beaded strips work wonders here, just nest 'em together), and a temporary
: 1/4-inch thick spacer at the top half, clamped the whole thing together,
: drilled three holes equally spaced along the bottom, then put in machine
: screws, washers and wingnuts. You could glue the two 1/4-inch thick pieces
: onto on of the faces, but not both: you want to have a way to clamp the
: piece you're going to cut a scarf on. We didn't because we wanted a way to
: change the orientation of the "permamnent" strips, ie, one side
: is coved, the other side is beaded, which is a perfect bed for scarfing a
: cove-and-beaded strip (more below) Next, saw a sharp angle into the top of
: the newly made clamp, taking care to saw a straight line down to the
: "permanent" pieces. Voila! You now have your cheap and effective
: adjustable clamping scarf doo-hickey widget thing, good for all sorts of
: things. Some details that come in handy, change the orientation of the
: permanent pieces in the clamp to "bed" the subject piece you're
: going to cut a scarf on, reversing the cove for the bead as the need
: arises. Use a thin bladed (thin kerf) razor saw which will track in the
: saw cut nicely. Also, the sharper the angle, the bigger the area for
: gluing, and hence, a stronger the bond. I hope that all made sense, the
: jig worked wonders for us. regards, luck, and cheeers (I think I'll have
: another Nut Brown ale now) TnT

Can you post some drawing. It is quite hard for me to visualize from words. Thanks.
