There is a good tool forum at Wood magazine's site www.woodmagazine.com. If you run a search there for Shopsmith, it'll tell you what you want to know.

I dont have a shopsmith, but from what I have read, it is an excellent lathe, and an excellent line boring machine. The tablesaw is limited by table size, and that the table tilts instead of the blade tilting. The bandsaw attachment also has had good comments. If you can fine one used for a reasonable price, and need a lathe, it'd be a good deal.
