: Hi yall,

: Picked up a set of plans from Nick at the wooden boat show on friday at
: Mystic...gonna do the Expedition model and was wondering about that detail
: on the deck .....the more ridgd (pointy) deck top behind the hatch versus
: the flatter detail...anyone familiar with this and any thoughts on which
: might be better?

Is this the Expedition Single, or the regular vs. expedition models of the Great Auk?

A pointier deck will shed water quicker. A flatter deck will have less storage space, but get caught by the wind less. Most of Nick's designs, though, are relatively low, so windage is not a great problem.

:Seems trivial but who knows. Any other advice on building
: this model.

If you've read the book that much, you should be a pro! Ask questions on here as you come to them. Nick's instructions are fairly complete, so there is no immediate general advice that comes to mind.

Shawn

: Already read the book twenty times and have paddled it up the
: eastern eastern seaboard in my mind and back a few times too......haha.
: the boat show was real inspirational....the designs were
: incredible....like floating sculptures. thanx,

: Andy
