Thanks for the feedback, Rehd (et al).

Actually its a new saw available at Sears in Canada. One of the things that makes me a little leery is that the price is SO reasonable, for a new saw. I'll have to assemble it myself, so I can't check the things you suggest until after I've bought it, but with the warranty on a new saw, I'm not too worried about that.

This model has no port for attaching a shopvac, which I assume is common to most older saws. You have any suggestions for rigging an improv dust collector? I am assuming that even with a thin-kerf blade, cutting strips will produce an awful lot of sawdust. By the way, how thin is a thin-kerf blade?
