: I am thinking about building a skin-on-frame kayak such as the one presented
: in Wolfgang Brinck's book. I don't have the book yet, but I was wondering
: if anyone had read it, built from it, or paddled one of these boats. Would
: it be feasable to build using only this book for instruction? Can it
: really be made for as little as $150? I'm sure I'll have more questions
: later. Thanks to anyone who can help answer my questions.
I've dogeared a copy of Wolfgang Brinck's book The Aleutian Kayak: Origins, Construction and Use of the Traditional Seagoing Baidarka although I haven't gone so far as to build a boat based on his instructions it looks as though he makes it about as easy as it would get to build one of these boats in this fashion. Again however, I haven't built Brinck's boat, nor have I heard from anybody who has.
