I have always figured that orange peal was the result of the material you are applying now not "wetting" (bonding with) out the previous layer. If that is true then either there was blush still preventing wetting or the paint thinner left a layer of organic residue that prevented the bonding. I would suspect the latter. I think using a petroleum based material is risky. Alcohol or acetone maybe but I stick with water personally. Earl
