Hi Dwight, I think Rhed's common sense is right on. There's something odd about the surface tension of epoxy, let alone the dreaded fisheye or mysterious contaminants. It looks ok at first,,,then a little later on it's orange peel or running drips! Something tells me paint thinner might not be the best thing for wiping down. Try alcohol or water and air.
