Boiled Linseed oil over varnish or over epoxy

Does anyone have any experience with Linseed oil as a repair or as a primary finish on these boats? Does it have any UV protection? It seems tougher than varnish, which stratches so easily that its shine is pretty useless anyway on a kayak.

I saw the entry below about using it on furniture and agree. Its like a miracle chemical.
