In Response To: How's the Guillemot 17 in the water? (Todd Fry)

: I'm building a Guillemot 17 from the offsets in Nick Schade's book and I was
: wondering if anyone could tell me what this boat feels like on the water?
: Boats I've paddled and liked are Pygmy's Coho, P&H's Capella, and Current
: Designs's Extreme. How does it compare to these? I've seen many pictures,
: and the boat is beautiful (can't wait to finish mine), If form follows
: function, this boat should be a dream on the water- but I was hoping to
: hear from someone who has had experience with it firsthand. Thanks! (By
: the way Nick- and I can't overemphasize this enough- EXCELLENT BOOK!)

I think the G17 would be more "playful" than either the Coho or the extreme. The extreme is probably more similar to a enlarged G18 or G19 or the Nicks Exp. Sngle that is not in the book but available as plans.

They are beautiful boats and I look forward to building one perhaps this winter or next spring.
