: I cannot comment on the Guillemot, but I have paddled the Coho and Capella.

: Coho: Pretty, fast, neutral, strong tracking, stable, resists weathercockiong
: very well, large volume, excellent touring boat. Cockpit opening is too
: large for my tastes, making it difficult to install proper knee braces,
: although Pygmy now has a knee brace kit which is supposed to be an
: improvement. Does not turn very quickly unless you really lay it over
: which is difficult unless you have good knee braces.

: Capella: Heavier (Plastic), excellent fit for my 5'-11" 200 lb. frame,
: good hatches, OK cruising speed, surprisingly strong initial stability for
: a 22" boat. Lower volume than Coho. Tracks very poorly unless skeg is
: down. This is the most significant difference. If you are a cruiser, the
: Coho is better option, but if you want to turn fast, well with the skeg up
: the Capella almost spins. This makes it great for rock gardens. More
: appropriate for play situations.

I have been paddling a coho for 3 years now and my paddling partner paddles a Capella. His Capella is plastic but the fiberglass ones are almost the exact same weight. I agree with most of what Berkley has stated. I was able to mount good thigh braces allowing me to be able to edge the Coho for quick turns, although not a quick as the shorter capella. The Coho is faster and does not weathercock, The skeg on the Capella solves the weathercocking. the Capella is 16# heavier than my Coho and this probably affects acceleration as I can come up to cruising speed quicker with the Coho. The Coho is easier to roll. The Capella is one of my favorite boats but the Coho is a more comfortable ride for me. It's initial stability is solid enough to fish from. The wind has little affect making corrective strokes or leans not necessary. I can paddle all day in any conditions without working hard to stay on course. It's just a joy to paddle.
