Thanks Spidey!
I had to visit 3 automotive stores to get all 3 rubbing compounds suggested by the link you provided. But wow, what an awesome finish they provide! I tried them out on my hatch covers this morning. I'm ready to tackle the boat. I was afraid my last varnish coat would have bubbles, lint, etc, but the rubbing compounds alow me to sand the small defects out with ultra fine sand paper and then bring the luster back.
Regarding the bubbles in the varnish, I discovered my problem. The foam brush was creating them. By fully soaking the brush, and then squeezing it out and soaking it again before starting, I was able to eliminate the bubbles. I squeezed out the first brush full into a second cup. By the time I was near the end of my primary container of varnish the bubbles were gone in the second container and I was able to use this varnish also.
I put the last epoxy coat on the boat on the 4th of July. So I guess I'll have to wait until next weekend to varnish. I hate waiting. I think I'll put it on top of the car and drive it around for a while;-).
Thanks again,
Dwight
