I've used Joe's paddles before, They are very nice. They are beautiful, lightweight, powerful paddles. Of the euro-paddles that I have used, his are some of my favorites. They are in between nice fiberglass and carbon fiber blades for weight, but are much more beautiful and have a better feel in the water. I haven't tried his Blackback series, just the Redfish Standard paddle.
I did notice that the article mentioned the heaviest paddle, but did not say anything about Joe's being the lightest.
I put a link to the online review below. Or you can go to his site and check out his paddles at http://www.redfishkayak.com/paddles.htm

: Joe Greenley's custom paddle appears in August's Sea Kayaker magazine and
: gets a good review - Congrats, Joe.
: My eye caught the signature blade design as I was flipping through the
: magazine, and I had to stop and check out what the author had to say. I
: noticed that although his paddle was the lightweight of the 9 paddles
: reviewed, that fact wasn't specifically mentioned. I wonder why not? Like
: Joe's kayaks, his paddle are works of art.
