In Response To: Why not retain cove and bead on sheer strips? (Mark Griffard)
The idea of leaving a cove and bead for the shear sounds good and the few people that make the boats that way comment that it does help the joining. The biggest drawback is keeping the surfaces intact during the build. The fragile cove will most certainly get beat to pieces if your not super carefull. Why not use a cheater dowel in the bead for protection? If greased up properly, it would pop right out on demand...
