Vernon - Not to worry - it should 'tan' just fine through the epoxy. When I first had my boat out pre-varnish the tie town straps left light-colored 'tan lines' which worried me when I saw them. They shortly evened out with the rest of the deck. I'd wait until then before applying the varnish, which should stop the tanning process.
