A simple one may be a thin membrane w/ a pin prick in it:
Sealed under normal circumstances but will allow excess pressure ea way to pass. Say a 1/2in hole w/ inner tube rubber w/ small hole put in. Or thin silicone w/ pinprick.
Or two open holes, one top and bottom w/ tubes (maybe straws under the glass)running to opposite top and bottom. Right side up vent thru bottom no water in and vice versa- maybe some prob. when on side and filled w/ water.
But I agree, the simplest may be a 1/32in hole drilled in the ctr towards the top. Seal w/ epoxy to prevent watersaturated wood expansion.
