: Spidey, I just saw your post, and was going to Jack's to pick up some stuff
: for work tomorrow, You can E mail Tom Downer, jacks@willaoabay.org or
: call them at 1-888-665-4989 the item you are looking for is a"C.S.
: Osborne Automatic Awl #413" the price is $13.95. Their website
: http://www.jackscountrystore.com/ is really worth checking out. Next to
: the automatic awl I saw at least twenty different kinds of files, a set of
: sailmakers needles three different sizes of caulking irons, natural
: arkansas stones, heck it just might be the best hardware store on the west
: coast. Hope this helps, Bob

The Awl is a neat tool but, it's painfully slow!!! It is better suited to heavy thick material such as leather or where a sewing machine wont work. I put some strap attachment patches on a mountain sled to be able to carry skis and it worked great for this job. The sewing machine is better suited to nylon or polyester webbing. For those without the sewing skils, the triglides (thanks for the correction, Shawn) work well and allow for later adjustment.
