When I read gel-coat in the book, I didn't get the significance of the term and used the mix straight away after mixing.

I now understand that a gel-coat is obtained by letting the mix go off until it reaches a jelly-like state, and then applying that gel. It's what the difference is between that and what I did and that I don't understand.
