These hatch lip questions are popular, so I thought I'd chip in.

Joe advocates using scrap strips in his instructions, to make a wooden lip, and then glassing over it with a single layer of 6oz. I did my "scrap strips" to recess the lip for 1/8" gasket.

Nick, on the other hand, advocates positioning the hatch 1/8" low and glassing several layers to make a glass lip. This would seem to me to be a little faster. Any comments on the comparison between the two methods?
