I'm building a stich and glue Coho with epoxy resin in Okinawa, Japan and was concerned about the heat and humidity. At 28-32C and 90% + humidity I found I had 10 min. of working time with the resin. Since the resin is exothermic the smaller the quantity you mix the longer you have to work with it and the more likely you are to use the complete batch. Acetone solvent eats most plastic measuring cups, after trying several sets of those I found cheap stainless jiggers for mixed drinks, double ended affairs, .75 oz. one way, 1.5 oz. the other. I can easily apply 2.25 oz. of resin before it sets and have a lot of confidence that I'm accurately measuring the proportions.
: I am seriously thinking about building my first stripper yak. Have not built
: any stitch/glues either, but have built a number of small S.Louisiana
: pirogues. The only area to use is my covered back porch which gets only
: morning sun, but no rain. And its extremely humid here this time of year.
: Any comments about slow building an epoxy stripper in this environment?
: Will I hate this approach later? Can this work? This forum is fantastic!
: Thx... Mark
